Josh Lowenthal
Founder, Law Office of Joshua A. Lowenthal, PLC
I'm a tax and M&A attorney. I represent buyers through acquisitions, structure the tax side of deals for other attorneys' clients, and step in when a transaction has real tax stakes that a generalist shouldn't be expected to catch alone.
Before practicing law, I worked at a regional public accounting firm on middle-market M&A and tax controversy, then at a Big 4 accounting firm, then in an international law firm's estate planning and probate litigation group in Metro Detroit. I hold a JD and an LLM in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, and a BA in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Michigan. I'm admitted to practice in Michigan and Alabama, and I've been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Business & Corporate Law every year from 2023 through 2025.
When I'm not working a deal, I'm home with my partner and our two young boys, training for the next marathon, or planning the next backpacking trip. None of that is just a bio detail: the discipline that gets you through mile twenty of a marathon, or day four on a trail when your legs are done and you're not, is the same discipline that gets a deal through the two weeks before closing when everything looks like it's falling apart.
